The Errington Hall has a new, free program for Oceanside youth.
The Youth Engagement Project (YEP) is for youth aged 11-18 who are interested in playing music and/or learning sound engineering, video production. All programs are designed to be fun, casual and hands on.
“They’re learning skills that are really useful,” said the Hall’s music co-ordinator Val Dare.
According to a press release, YEP will run until May 1, 2015. There are three programs running at limited capacity at the moment and they may be expanded at a later date is interest is high, said Dare.
Youth Music Jam
Experience playing together in a supportive environment with other young musicians and singers. Bring your own instrument and meet people to play music with. Also, perform on stage for audiences and the video camera. Held Thursdays at the Small Errington Hall, 7-8 p.m.

Introduction to Live Sound Engineering
Learn to use analogue and digital mixing boards, live mic-ing techniques and live sound mixing. Space is limited to 3. Held the first Saturday of each month in the Errington Hall, 4-5 p.m.

Video Production Through Collaboration
A video creation bootcamp to learn the art of filmmaking and artistic expression while encouraging the refining of their skills through group and peer collaboration. Students need to bring their own laptops. Held at the Errington Hall. The schedule was arranged the first night, so interested youth should contact the email below.
