A dance this weekend in Errington features Vancouver veteran musician and multi-instrumentalist Gary Comeau with the Voodoo Allstars, bringing with them a taste of Southern roots and blues.
“The music is really kind of roots based, Lousiana, New Orleans-based, with a real blues element to it,” said Comeau.
Comeau has been playing music for more than 40 years.
He was raised in Nova Scotia but has been living in Vancouver for the past 30 years.
Over the years Comeau has played numerous festivals on the Island, including the Island Folk Festival. His songs have also appeared in films, like the song Marianne, which was featured in the Paramount Film Double Jeopardy with Ashley Judd and Tommy Lee Jones.
This weekend Comeau will be rocking out on his accordion, mandolin, fiddle and piano, although not all at the same time, he conceded. Other guys in the band will join in on the drums, bass and guitar.
Catch Gary Comeau and the Voodoo Allstars this Saturday, March 26 at 9 p.m. at the Errington Hall.
Tickets are $20 at the Errington Store, Cranky Dog Music in Parksville and Heaven on Earth in Qualicum Beach.
