Exhibition celebrates inner artist in all of us

Week-long show, I Made This, features work by artists who have taken classes at the Chilliwack Arts Council.

This unique work of art by Sophia Kim, created with coloured markers on a wooden pizza paddle, is one of many pieces of artwork that will be on display Dec. 9-16 during I Made This.

A year-end exhibition at the Art Room next week will be home to a variety of work by Chilliwack Arts Council students who have taken classes or workshops at the creative centre.

Week-long show, I Made This, is open to all ages and mediums. It provides an opportunity for both budding and hobby artists to show off the artistic techniques they have learned throughout the year and proudly say, “I made this!”

The artwork will be on display Dec. 9 to 16 and it will be as varied as the artists who created it. From highly expressive mixed media creations by young artists aged three to 12, to drawings and paintings created by accomplished adult artists during classes such as the immensely popular Corks and Canvas, this exhibition promises to celebrate the inner artist in all of us.

All artwork displayed in this special exhibition is inspired by, or created during, classes and workshops hosted in the Chilliwack Community Arts Council’s instructional space.

Join talented community members as they show off what they’ve created throughout the year during I Made This, Dec. 9 to 16.

A free-to-attend artist meet-and-greet will be held on Friday, Dec. 9 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Chilliwack Community Arts Council (#20-5725 Vedder Rd.).

Guests will have the opportunity to view the artwork, speak with some of the artists, and learn more about the Arts Council’s year-round art class programming. Students enjoy the arts through activities to suit every age range, skill level and medium of choice, ranging from painting and cooking to jewellery and mixed media techniques.

The gallery is open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more details about the exhibition please call 604-769-2787 or visit the gallery page on chilliwackartscouncil.com.
