Fairwinds garage sale gets bigger this year

Fairwinds is hosting a community garage sale in Nanoose Bay that organizers say could be the biggest one on Vancouver Island this summer.

NANOOSE BAY — Fairwinds is hosting a community garage sale in Nanoose Bay that organizers say could be the biggest one on Vancouver Island this summer.

The garage sale will take place at the Schooner Cove Marina from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 25 and June 26, with all proceeds earned going to Nanoose Community Services (NCS), a local organization that supports residents of Nanoose Bay in financial need.

“We have had an overwhelming response from the community for donating items to the garage sale at Schooner Cove” said Greg Dunn, marina manager at Schooner Cove. “The generosity has far surpassed our expectations in terms of donations, such as collectables, tools, sporting equipment and household goods.”

Admission to the garage sale will be a non-perishable food item or cash donation. The garage sale will be held inside the hotel, so weather will not be a concern. Only cash will be accepted for sale items and there will be beverages and hot dogs for sale. This event is sponsored by Fairwinds and 1-800-GOT-JUNK?

Schooner Cove Hotel will be collecting sale items up to the day of the garage sale. Donated items will help support the community and help local families in need.

Anyone is welcome to drop off sale items on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.  Donors are asked to choose gently-used items that will be attractive to garage sale shoppers.

Fairwinds has set a goal to raise $5,000 for local families in need with this event.
