Growing up in Edmonton, Lee was inspired by a musical mother, Linda, who sang on the radio in her youth. Hound Dog was the first Elvis song that caught his ear and his mom bought him a guitar at just three years old.

He earned the title as the first Elvis tribute artist in Las Vegas history to consecutively perform for 11 record-breaking years as a headliner in the American Superstars Show at the Stratosphere Hotel.

Last January he was awarded the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee medal for his success in Las Vegas.

During his teens, Lee excelled at talent contests and performing in Lounges. At 15, he stood out against performers twice his age. In 1988, Darren entered an Elvis contest in Edmonton, and took second place. A chance meeting with another Elvis artist, led to an audition with the Elvis-Elvis-Elvis show. Darren toured with the show around Canada as the young 50s energetic Elvis.

Rock N’ Roll Heaven was a show that featured him in the roles of: Elvis, Ricky Nelson, Buddy Holly, Roy Orbison, John Lennon & Ritchie Valens. The show toured for seven years.

In 1997, Darren returned to Memphis on the 20th Anniversary of Elvis’ death. On August 16th 1997 – 20 years to the day, Darren Lee became the first Canadian to earn recognition as the number one Elvis Tribute Artist in the World.

Lee became the first Elvis Tribute Artist in Las Vegas history to perform for 11 record breaking years consecutively headlining the American Superstars Show at the Stratosphere Hotel. Now he’s getting ready next month to open the Rockin’ Hawaiian Luau. The grand opening is Aug. 27 at the Aston Maui Lu in Kihei, Maui.
