It’s always a Note-able Feast for the legions of fans of the CSO.
The annual fundraising gala for the Chilliwack Symphony Orchestra and Chorus is set for Feb. 16 at the Coast Chilliwack Hotel.
“I think this is shaping up to be the best one yet,” said CSO director Paula DeWit. “The gourmet meal, the incredible entertainment, exciting silent auction — the whole event will be a treat.”
The orchestra just keeps getting “better and better,” she admits. “It’s the best it has ever been and the a cappella group is very polished.”
Three special guests that night will also be performing in their April concert.
They include soprano Michelle Koebke and violinist Carolyn Cole, the evening’s line-up will also showcase the talents of the CSO and the Belle Voci singers. CSO resident pianist Graham Yates, and Chilliwack harpist Joanne Hankey, will perform during the pre-dinner cocktail hour with a musical welcome to the gala guests.
A Phantom of the Opera theme will include a Mask Contest, adding to the romantic and sumptuous ambiance. Decorate a mask and bring it along for judging.
So close to Valentine’s Day, it’s fitting that one of the auction items is a romantic night at the Coast, and another is a VQA package with B.C. wine and private tasting for 10.
In keeping with the French ambiance, the chef will be preparing an exquisite four-course offering, with satisfying vichyssoise, fresh salad greens with vinaigrette, beef bourguignon and a delightful apple pastry dessert served a la mode.
One of the perennial favourite items to bid on is the special gourmet dinner for eight, expertly prepared by DeWit for the lucky winners of that auction item.
A new addition this year to the silent auction is a helicopter flight for two, donated by Chilliwack pilot, John Falkner.
“The Note-Able Feast raises thousands of dollars and is the main source of funding so we can continue to offer Chilliwack our high quality and popular programming.
