Festival features writers of all ages

Formerly the Shuswap International Writers' Festival, Word on the Lake: a festival for readers and writers takes place in May.

The Shuswap Association of Writers is holding a fundraising raffle in support of Word on the Lake: a festival for readers and writers (formerly the Shuswap International Writers’ Festival) to be held May 25 to 27.

Tickets can be purchased at Lady in the Tub, Hidden Gems Bookstore, and The Book Nook.

Tickets are also available at the Shuswap Farm and Crafts Market that runs from 9 a.m. to  noon Fridays at the Field House on 30th Street SE. There are seven great prizes to be won, including a Twin Anchors houseboat vacation, a luxury weekend in Vancouver and cash.

The Young Writers’ Contest which is open to students 5-18 years in school districts #83 and #22 only closes April 5. Contact karen.bissenden@gmail.com or www.saow.ca for guidelines and details. Cash prizes will be awarded Saturday May 26 at the festival.
