The Reel Paddling Film Festival, World Tour 2016 wraps up the Williams Lake Film Club season this Tuesday, May 3 at the Gibraltar Room.
Once again we are planning a mind boggling event for all of you.
You will see a wide variety of films from around the world, the very best of the year, short ones and longer ones, wild and wacky ones, and some beautiful and serene. They all will have to do with water.
You will see the second segment of Big Fish Stories: Expedition Hauka, Kayak Fishing in Puerto Rico, Paddle for the North, just to give you a little teaser.
And as we like this evening so much and do not want it to end, we once again decided to give you a bonus.
The evening goes like this: We will see the first part, about one hour, then we will have a break for 15 minutes. Refreshments will be available. My homemade festival popcorn (only offered at this festival, you have to taste it to believe it), some Sushi, water, tea, Ovaltine, and other goodies.
Then comes the second part, again about one hour and then, because you are such a great audience and we already miss you for the long summer, we will have the bonus film Voyageurs Without A Trace.
You do not have to stay for the whole evening, there will be a “I have to leave, the seat is killing me” break before the bonus feature. Bring a cushion.
Keep your ticket stubs. You may win a free one-year subscription of a great magazine, Kayak, Family Camping and Canoeroots, Kayak Angler, or Rapid, The Whitewater Magazine.
Also, Red Shreds Bike and Board Shed will donate a special door prize for a lucky one of you.
Advance tickets are available at the front desk of the Cariboo Memorial Complex and at Red Shreds Bike and Board Shed: $12 in advance and $15 at the door, cash only. Advance sales close at noon on Tuesday. Screening starts at 7 p.m., doors open at 6:30 p.m.
And remember, all of the proceeds of this evening will go the LDA, Williams Lake Chapter of the Association for Students with Learning Disabilities for one-on-one tutoring.
At the moment we have three tutors helping 12 children each week.
See you Tuesday, May 3, yes!
