Quite often I am being asked why we do not bring more comedies to the Williams Lake Film Club.
The answer is simple, there just are not many good ones available.
If I find one, you will see it. Our next film on Tuesday, Sept. 29, will be a comedy.
As it should be with a title like Sex After Kids. We will screen it at 7 p.m. at the Gibraltar Room, back doors open at 6:30 p.m.
After Canadian film director Jeremy LaLonde became a parent himself he discussed this question with many of his friends and later with his all-star Canadian cast: Is it possible to have children and a sex life, and is it even worth it?
Life goes on after kids — even romantic relationships.
In Sex After Kids, new parents navigate the messy world of romance after starting a family.
Whether it’s parents with a newborn baby trying to find intimacy amidst the diaper changes, single parents trying to find love after divorce, or recent “empty nesters” seeking ways to rekindle their passion, Sex After Kids is a witty examination that almost everyone can relate to.
The film is very funny in a gentle way, nothing crass about it as you might worry when you see the title.
After all, it is a Canadian film.
It won the award for best comedy at the Edmonton International Film Festival in 2013.
And now I would like to ask all of you retired teachers out there, teacher‘s aides, smart high school students (volunteer credits) — would you like to help and support the LDA with your tutoring skills.
We need you.
As you know, the Williams Lake Film Club is a fund raiser for the local chapter of the LDA, the association for Students with Learning Disabilities.
We work with all age groups, but right now mostly with reading and writing. For younger ones.
Please, be nice and call me, Krista, at 250-398-9149. Or come to our film on Tuesday and find out more about this.
I am looking forward to seeing you. Remember, after the film we serve refreshments and some deliciously different cookies or yummies. If you have some you would like to share, please do bring them.
