Now known as the Jack Daniel’s Barn, the more familiar Boogie Bar-N is the ultimate destination in a special precursor to the Roots and Blues Festival that plays out Aug. 19 to 21.
This year’s Music Crawl is breaking ground and forging new paths on Thursday, Aug. 18.
“I am really proud of the lineup that we are able to deliver in such user-friendly venues and on a donation basis,” says artistic director Peter North.
The Shuswap Pie Company will host Bob Rogers at 5:30 p.m. At the same time, Brent Parkin will perform at the Urban Market to be followed at 7 by Sugar Brown.
Shuswap Theatre will play host to Linda McRae at 6:30 p.m., Tim Williams at 7:35 and Harrow Fair at 8:40.
“If you had to pay for that, it would be a $30 show,” North says. “I think they could be the surprise of the festival, they’re handled by Blue Rodeo’s manager.”
Back on the trail, Blue Canoe hosts HarpPixie at 6 p.m. and Adrian Nation at 7:30.
Tanya Lipscomb will perform on the Ross Street stage at 7 p.m. and at 7:30, CrossBow performs at Shuswap Chefs, followed by T. Buckley Trio at 8:40.
Follow the music to the fairgrounds for an exciting finale featuring David Gogo at 8:30 and De Bruces à Mi, a Colombian reggae band at 9:45.
Active Salmon Arm Folk Music Society members who have purchased a membership between Nov. 1, 2015 to Aug. 18 before 5 p.m. will get in free. Non-members can purchase a $20 Thursday evening concert pass at the gate.
“The music crawl is an uplifting way to signal the start of the festival,” adds North.
