Encompass is endeavouring to get into the Christmas spirit early, with a festival at George Preston Recreation Centre this weekend.
Encompass Support Services Society is a non-profit agency that has been serving Langley for the past 20 years. While the title is relatively new, this is a merger of Aldergrove Neighbourhood Services Society and Family and Youth Services Society.
The recently rebranded organization is holding this inaugural fundraiser called All I Want for Christmas Market and Food Truck festival. It happens Saturday, Nov. 12 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
All proceeds from the All I Want For Christmas Market and Food Truck Festival goes towards the programs and services provided by Encompass Support Services Society (ESSS).
ESSS is a grassroots, non-profit agency that provides a wide range of enriching and essential programs and support services to the communities of Langley.
They offer a variety of free, accessible community programs and activities for all ages with a primary focus on children, youth and families.
What they call “life-changing” programs and services include, but are not limited to: family mediation and reunification, the youth homelessness initiative, sexual abuse counselling, after-school activity programs, pre- and post-natal support, parent-child drop-in groups (e.g. Mother Goose), parenting support groups and a youth hub (a place for youth ages 12 to 24 can access basic and “life-enriching” services such as medical care, harm reduction and substance use support, arts/music programming and access to housing to name just a few.
