In celebration of its first 10 years in Fort Langley, the Fort Gallery is launching a monthly series of community arts events to be held on the first Thursday of every month.
Each ‘First Thursday’ the Fort Gallery will host a variety of visual artists, writers, poets, and musicians from the local community who will share their gifts and creations.
These events form part of the Fort Gallery’s ongoing mission to encourage and support local contemporary artists and to engage the public in art that pushes boundaries.
The first event will be held on Feb. 5 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., when award-winning B.C. poet and writer Susan McCaslin will read from her memoir Into the Mystic: My Years with Olga, which explores a transformative relationship with the Canadian mystic, Olga Park.
McCaslin lives in Fort Langley, where she organized the Han Shan Poetry Initiative that played an instrumental part in saving an endangered rainforest in Glen Valley. The evening will also feature artists currently exhibiting at the Fort Gallery.
Join them at this free evening celebrating thought-provoking images and words.
