Fort Gallery artists will explore the concept of ‘state of mind’ with their upcoming exhibit, Occupied Territories.
Occupied Territories includes work by artists Edith Krause, Lisa Nickel, Deborah Colvin and Deb deJong.
A statement from the gallery explains the four women explore ‘the connection between place and state of mind, and the internal territories occupied by our experience’ in the exhibit, which opens Wednesday, Oct. 17.
The exhibition includes several different artistic approaches through medium and theme. Some of the themes include the juxtaposition of human tissue images with landscapes, the idea of nests as a place of refuge and the mind’s desire for ascendance.
Occupied Territories is on display from Oct. 17 to Nov. 11 at the Fort Gallery at 9048 Glover Rd. from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The opening reception will be held on Oct. 27 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
