Free admission every Thursday to the Kelowna Art Gallery

Every Thursday from 10 a.m. until closing at 9 p.m., the public will be given complimentary admission to the gallery.

Visitors to Kelowna and residents alike will be pleased to learn about the Kelowna Art Gallery’s new FREE Admission Thursdays! program. Every Thursday from 10 a.m. until closing at 9 p.m., the public will be given complimentary admission to the gallery.

Visitors can take the opportunity to enjoy current exhibitions, take in a scheduled artist’s talk, or get creative in the Art Lab. FREE Admission Thursdays! is made possible through a new partnership and the generous support of the Delta Grand Okanagan Resort and Conference Centre.

“This was something we immediately felt we had to support,” says Daniel Bibby, general manager at the Delta Grand Okanagan Resort & Conference Centre. “For years we have encouraged our guests to take the time to visit the gallery—our neighbour just across the street. It felt like the perfect way to publicly recognize our support and also to offer something special to residents as well as our guests.”

The mission of the Kelowna Art Gallery is to engage, inspire, and enrich the greater community through the exhibition, collection, and interpretation of visual art. For nearly 30 years, the Kelowna Art Gallery has served the central Okanagan region. Since its beginnings in 1976 the gallery has grown to become a leading public art gallery and in 2006 was granted “A” status by the Minister of Canadian Heritage.

“We are so excited to be able to offer this new program to the community,” said Nataley Nagy, executive director at the Kelowna Art Gallery. “We feel FREE Admission Thursdays! is a wonderful way to ensure everyone has access to the gallery and we invite the whole community to please plan to visit us.

Located in the heart of Kelowna’s Cultural District, the Kelowna Art Gallery welcomes visitors to explore the four exhibition spaces that showcase a variety of work by local, regional, and nationally recognized artists.  The gallery also offers a wide selection of public programs for all ages, including Family Sundays, held each Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m., which explores different themes through a guided hands-on activity.
