The Fort St. James National Historic Site’s Artist in Residence Clare Singleton, will be holding some free art workshops this month and next.
The workshops will be free with admission to the park, and there will be three workshops for budding artists to take part in.
Create your own farm animal family on August 29 from 2-4 p.m. will include a farm tour of the historic site’s farm animals. Then participants can create their very own set of farm animals, complete with a picket fence.
Also on August 29, Singleton will lead participants in a hands-on workshop to create a series of landscape studies of the Stuart Lake skyline in watercolour from 7-9 p.m.
On Saturday, September 21, during the Fort St. James National Historic Site Open House, Singleton will demonstrate fish printing, which participants in this drop-in workshop can then use to create their very own fish prints.
Historically used for fishermen to record their catches, the process has evolved into its own art form.
