Fretless Friday at LFAS

Celtic string quartet comes to Chief Sepass Theatre as part of fundraiser to benefit marginalized people in South America

Friday the 13th will bring plenty of luck for local fans of award-winning Canadian folk music.

Celtic ensemble, The Fretless, are coming to Fort Langley on Feb. 13, as they play their way across the Pacific Northwest.

And it’s all for a very good cause.

With stops planned for Vancouver Island as well as Washington State and Oregon, the award-winning Canadian string quartet will wind up its West Coast swing in Vancouver on Feb. 15.

But this Friday night it will be the Chief Sepass Theatre at Langley Fine Arts School that’s alive with The Fretless’ intricate and high-energy arrangements of traditional folk melodies.

The Fort Langley concert will also be a fundraiser for Mosqoy. The charitable organization founded by LFAS alumna Ashli Akins provides economic and educational opportunities to marginalized communities in the Andes region of South America, while helping to nurture their threatened culture.

The evening will also feature an exhibition of photography and textiles, presented by LFAS students during intermission.

Show starts at 7 p.m. in Chief Sepass Theatre, located at 9096 Trattle St. in Fort Langley.

Tickets are $10 student and $15 adult, plus service fees.
