Swedish Folk group Lyy will be performing in Qualicum Beach.

A folk music group is making its way all the way from Sweden to Qualicum Beach.

The group, Lyy, will perform a special house concert, which will be open to the public next Wednesday night.

Lyy is known for their fresh, uplifting music which contains hints of jazz and rock as well as outstandingly skillful musicianship.

The group plays traditional Swedish material, along with some of their own original tunes,  using the fiddle, keyed fiddle, guitar, percussion and vocals.

Local music aficionados Joyce and John Beaton will be holding the concert at their home in Qualicum Beach.

The Beatons met a member of the group while at a fiddle camp in Quebec a couple of years ago and was so impressed she invited them here.

The show is set for July 18, starting at 7:30 p.m. and tickets are $20.
