For 15 years, the Watch Lake/Green Lake Business Association has been putting on a fun-filled evening in the Watch Lake Community Hall on the second Saturday in September.
This year that date is Sept. 13 and the Cariboo Country Night will definitely be an entertaining evening.
Things start off with a cowboy concert at 5 p.m. Around 6:30, the steaks come off the barbecue and are served with all the trimmings to make one fantastic country-style meal.
The cowboy concert resumes after dinner, and around 8:30 p.m., things liven up a bit as the dance gets underway.
This year, the entertainment should once again be awesome.
Hugh McLennan, voice of the Spirit of the West Radio Show, will make the trip to Watch Lake to share some cowboy stories, jokes, poetry, and songs.
Leslie Ross from the 108 will be back by request as she went over so well last year with her amazing guitar picking and singing.
New to the Watch Lake stage this year will be 19-year-old Jason Ruscheinsky – a very talented upcoming singer song writer. They will each do a set of their own, then Jason will team up with Leslie for one set, and all three entertainers will join together to make up the dance band.
Our annual singer, Ernie Doyle, has had some hand surgery so won’t be able to play guitar but we’re hoping he’ll join in on the fun and share that big boomin’ voice of his with us. His song choices of all the old country favourites seem like a must at Cariboo Country Night.
Tickets are $25 (advance sales only please) and that includes all the entertainment and the steak dinner. Folks can get them at Watch Lake Lodge, the 70 Mile General Store, and Meadow Springs Ranch. Ticket pickup can also be arranged in 100 Mile House by phoning 250-456-2425.
Mark McMillan is a key organizer of this event.
