Gallery 7 Theatre holds open auditions on Tuesday, Oct. 27 for its next production, The Giver.
The auditions take place at 6:30 p.m. at the theatre’s rehearsal hall at Huntington Station, #100 – 34595 Third Ave. in Abbotsford. They are open to all male and female performers ages 14 to 75.
The Giver is based on the award-winning novel for young adults by Lois Lowry and is adapted for the stage by Eric Coble.
In a futuristic, Utopian society, young Jonas is surprised to learn that he has been chosen to receive special training from The Giver, the keeper of all memories of true joy and pain.
This adaption of the award-winning novel for young adults explores what it means to grow up and to be human in an imperfect world.
The play will run Jan. 29 and 30 and Feb. 3-6 at 7:30 p.m., with discount matinees on Jan. 30 and Feb. 6 at 2 p.m. at the Abbotsford Arts Centre, 2329 Crescent Ave.
Call-back auditions will be held Oct. 31 at 10 a.m., and rehearsals will begin the week of Nov. 18.
The production will be directed by Gallery 7 Theatre’s artistic director, Ken Hildebrandt, who directed last season’s production of Lord of the Flies.
