Gallery 7 Theatre presents Summer Drama Blast

Gallery 7 Theatre and Performing Arts hosts its 12th annual Summer Drama Blast, starting July 4.

The camp-style program offers young people ages six to 18 the opportunity to explore all things dramatic in a life-affirming, positive environment, says Gallery 7 executive director Ken Hildebrandt.

For children ages six to 12, the program offers generalized performance camps that allow children to explore their creative sides while learning both basic and intermediate performance skills such as blocking, line memorization, characterization and even play development.

Each camp ends with a short performance where campers can showcase what they’ve learned throughout the week for family and friends.

For teens ages 13 to 18, Summer Drama Blast offers more advanced camps in performance, improvisation and acting for television and film.

These intensive camps are ideal for young people looking to build on their high school theatre experience, prepare for college and professional theatre training or for those seeking deeper involvement in community theatre.

Camps are led by highly skilled and experienced theatre artists from throughout the Fraser Valley.

Danielle Milette, recent UFV theatre graduate, will lead Dramatic Rumblings for ages eight and nine, while Jenessa Galbraith, recent TWU theatre grad, will lead Stage Eruptions for 10- and 11-year-olds.

Stephen Wilhite, also a graduate of UFV theatre, will lead Dynamite Playmakers for ages 12 and 13, and professional actor Ryan Scramstad will lead Performance Intensive and Acting for the Camera for ages 13 to 18.

Summer Drama Blast 2016 runs July 4 to 22 at the Abbotsford Arts Centre Community Arts Addition, 2329 Crescent Way.

Early-bird rates are in effect until June 30. For more information or to register, visit gallery7theatre.com or call 604-504-5940.
