Celso Machado leads an impressive schedule in the TD Bank music series

The Kootenay Gallery TD Bank Concert Series kicks off its 2013-14 season with celebrated Brazilian/Canadian guitarist, percussionist, multi-instrumentalist, composer and music educator Celso Machado. This concert will take place at the Kootenay Gallery on September 15 at 1:30 p.m.

While Celso’s music is rooted in Brazilian rhythmic and melodic styles, it also reflects his incurable fascination with other world music traditions.

The remainder of the concert season will feature a wide range of musical performers and styles including the Selkirk College Faculty Kordis Jazz Trio, the Baroque fanfare of the Vancouver Symphony trumpet/organ duo of Marcus Goddard and Ellen Ay-Laung Wang as well as local performers including the Selkirk Camerata strings and bluegrass master Craig Korth. Also featured this season are emerging artists Natasha Hall, violin and Nina Horvath, piano who will be joined by clarinettist Nicola Everton and narrator Bessie Wapp for the devilishly saucy theatre piece, “The Soldier’s Tale” by Igor Stravinsky.

The Kootenay Gallery Concert Series wishes to thank its generous sponsors TD Bank, Columbia Basin Trust, the Columbia Kootenay Cultural Alliance and Castlegar Arts Council. Tickets cost $15 general admission and $12 for Kootenay Gallery members.  For more information on the concert series contact the Gallery at 250-365-3337 or visit www.kootenaygallery.com
