Red Art Gallery reopened its doors this week to launch its fifth year with the aptly titled High Five show.

The high five is a hand gesture where two people simultaneously raise one hand each and slide or slap the flat of their palm against the flat of the other person’s palm generally as a greeting or celebration.

Red Art Gallery is certainly celebrating its relationship with the number five.

Many of the gallery artists have created works around the theme of “5”, including small paintings, wall sculptures and even an homage to French magazine Charlie Hebdo.

Red Art Gallery has a new “theme” each month for shows, with new artwork centred around the theme, along with the extensive range of works always available. Learn about more upcoming events at redartgallery.ca online.

The Oak Bay Avenue gallery also added two new artists from Alberta and Saskatchewan to round out their stable of 20 Canadian artists, welcoming works by Justina Smith from St. Albert and Cindy Pellerin from Saskatoon.
