Gallery show celebrates Shuswap citizens

Salmon Arm Art Gallery is pleased to present Heroes & Rogues, portraits from the Centennial Collection

It’s art based on some familiar faces.

Salmon Arm Art Gallery is pleased to present Heroes & Rogues, portraits from the Centennial Collection, plus a few new rogues.

The photography series was created by Craig Pulsifer to celebrate Salmon Arm’s Centennial in 2005.

Twenty four of the works were recently donated to the community art collection housed at Salmon Arm Arts Centre, and so the arts council decided to round out the collection by commissioning Pulsifer to complete five new portraits.

The exhibition opens on Friday, Dec. 2 at 7 p.m. with live music and refreshments.

Visitors will enjoy seeing their community heroes in these dramatic black-and-white portraits, plus adding themselves to the Rogues Gallery via the photo booth.

It’s a fun look back at the Centennial, and a look forward to how individuals shape our community.

Gallery hours are Tuesday to Saturday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The exhibition runs until Saturday, Dec. 17, and is generously sponsored by Friends of the Gallery.

Coffee Break and Rogue Talk is on Thursday, Dec. 15 at 2 p.m.

Admission to the gallery is by donation.
