Georgia Strait Big Band at Little Red Church on Jan. 21

Theme songs from popular TV shows such as Peter Gunn will be featured

The Georgia Strait Big Band returns to the Little Red Church for another awesome evening of live music. An interesting twist to the band’s repertoire will feature cop/drama TV shows of the ’60s and ’70s. If you remember Mannix, Perry Mason, Peter Gunn and others, you will get a big kick out of going down memory lane with these television classic theme songs.

The Georgia Strait Big Band is the latest incarnation of big band music in the Valley that dates back over 70 years. This well-rehearsed ensemble of 20 musicians has been together now for 10 years and conducted by Greg Bush, for the entire time. Greg is a professor of jazz studies at Vancouver Island University and travels an estimated 50 times per year from his home in Departure Bay to support the band.

Performance repertoire will include classic and contemporary selections from the band’s 250-song library, with feature vocal tunes performed by the fantastic Jacki Zbiron and the band’s amazing intern youth vocalist, Nicole Borowicz.

Advance tickets $10 available at Bop City Records in Courtenay and the Red Carpet Boutique in Comox. Tickets at the door $12. Doors at 7; show  at 7:30.
