On March 19, celebrate the music of Billie Holiday as Sweetwater Band Vocals with Hannah Brown and Judy Sims comes to the Crofton Hotel.

Sims is from Saltspring Island. For more than 10 years, she and her band Sweetwater have performed at many events and in many venues. She enjoys performing favourite jazz classics, once sung by the likes of Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone as well as Holiday.

Brown plans to vary the love songs by singing a couple of Holiday’s legendary blues hits.

Accompanying the two will be John Moore, tenor sax; Karen Arney, piano; Alan Wardroper, bass; Jim Shultz, guitar; and Dave Milutinovic, drums.

Sunday’s performance is part of the Jazz at Crofton series, which runs from 2 to 5 p.m. each Sunday in the venue they’re now calling Pat’s House of Jazz.

Musicians are invited to join in a jam session during the last hour.

The pub is at 1534 Joan Ave. Admission to the show is $15 at the door.
