Gospel music in story and song in Qualicum Bay

Hear the stories about how some of the most famous gospel songs came to be written and performed and then hear the songs

After two sold-out shows in Parksville and a successful show to a capacity audience at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa, Tales for the Telling  will again be performing Turn Your Radio On:  Gospel Music in Story and Song with Marva K. Blackmore and Brian Lecky.

Hear the stories about how some of the most famous gospel songs came to be written and performed and then hear the songs.

This storytelling and music show is about the world’s most famous gospel music. Dipping into the emotional and cultural stream of the gospel tradition, Blackmore tells the stories behind the music that inspired the Christian faithful during the golden age of radio.  With baritone Lecky, Blackmore brings these tales to life through compelling stories, music and song.

The show will be performed at the Lighthouse Community Centre (240 Lions Way, Qualicum Bay) on Saturday, Nov. 5 at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are  $12 in advance or $15 at the door, and are available at Cranky Dog Record Store, Mulberry Bush Bookstore, the Salish Sea Market or the Georgia Park Store, or online at www.communityhall.ca.
