Gospel singer offers Penticton workshop

Marcus Mosely is coming to Penticton to lead a gospel chorale workshop

Marcus Mosely of The Sojourners is coming to Penticton to give one of his gospel choral singing workshops.

Mosely, born in the Texas panhandle, has traveled the world singing throughout North America, Europe, Asia, Africa and the South Pacific before settling in Vancouver in 1986.

About 10 years ago, Mosely gathered a few friends together to record some backup vocals for legendary bluesman Jim Byrnes. But when they stepped up to the mike, they realized this was a special group and, dubbed The Sojourners by Byrnes, went on to record their own album, Hold On, in 2007.

Mosely also directs and leads the 60-singer Marcus Mosely Chorale , and was inducted into the B.C. entertainment Hall of Fame in 2016.

Mosely will be hosted at the Penticton United Church as he offers his workshop on June 3, bringing with him musicians Darlene Ketchum and Bill Sample.

The group will then be performing on June 4 at 10 a.m. All are invited to come and be a part of this musical experience.

Register at the church office, 250-492-2684.
