A stinkin’ good time is in the air.

The 16th Annual South Cariboo Garlic Festival returns to Lac la Hache, Aug. 29-30.

The celebration of the “Stinkin’ Rose” will have shopping, vendors, food, contests, games and entertainment.

The entertainment lineup will see new acts and returning favourites.

Elvis tribute artist Steve Elliott is headlining the weekend again this year, while musician Mat Duffus is also making his return by popular demand.

Making a first time appearance are Octobers, a Kamloops-based indie alternative rock band, Cariboo Idol 2015 performers, and Jesaja Class, a magician and circus artist from the Nemiah Valley.

The food lineup includes fresh-made tacos with chicken, beef, chorizo, beans and all the trimmings, cotton candy, popcorn, burgers, fresh pastries (cinnamon buns and more), crepes, deep-fried pickles, barbecue kebabs, biscotti, poutine, grilled pita bread with tzatziki, Hawaiian ice slushies, sausages, perogies on a stick, fries, garlic ice cream, fresh-squeezed lemonade, soft pretzels with garlic dip, hot dogs, mini donuts, and more.

A garlic eating contest for children and adults starts at 12:30 p.m. on Aug. 29.

The popular, family friendly annual event is held at the Felker Homestead, located two kilometres north of Lac la Hache on Highway 97. It’s organized by the Lac la Hache Community Club.

Admission is $5 for adults/students and covers both days and all the entertainment, while children aged 12 years and under are free.

Complimentary day parking is available, including for RVs. Overnight parking is not allowed.

The Garlic Festival strictly enforces a “No Pets” policy.
