Greenstock is an annual art and music showcase, and will return to Golden on April 20.
The Golden Collective brings Greenstock, and boasts an eclectic evening of arts and music, and everyone of all ages is invited to attend from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m., but the music will continue after then.
Along with nine musical acts, there will be at least six visual artists showcasing their work.
Local artist Jeanine Thiel was commissioned to do the old school art on the posters, stickers, and pins for the event, and helped bring the art side of the event into fruition.
“I did everything 100 per cent hand drawn,” she explained. “People have been asking me, ‘why did you do it like that?’ I’m just pretty traditional in most of the things that I do.”
Organizer Pablo Euphoria approached Thiel to design the posters for the event.
“His primary idea was that he wanted a punk show, hand made posters, like they did in the 80s. So, I looked up Black Flag posters, and decided to go off and try to make the collage feel to it.”
Thiel’s art will be on display at the event, along with Nevin Hambleton, MANWOMAN Art, Sarah Schjelderup, Novel Imagination, and more.
Thiel incorporates a variety of media into her work, mostly using paints, pencils, and markers.
“I’ve always loved that kind of collage artwork and mixed medium,” she said. “I want to incorporate that more.”
Infinity Solstice will bring his collection of MANWOMAN Art to the event, showcasing some prints the artist had made before he died. He will have some for sale alongside other artist’s work, and some may be just for show, because he is deeply attached to them.
The art exhibit and the music will happen simultaneously at the Rockwater, but Thiel has plans to keep the art up and out of harms way, separating it a little from the dance floor to protect it.
There is also talks of a communal art board, where anyone who attends the event can leave their artistic mark.
“I think it’s really cool for people to get excited about it, and inspire them to go back and create more,” Thiel said.
Greenstock will take off at 4 p.m. on April 20 at the Rockwater, and go until late in the evening. Everyone is invited to attend the event.
