Legendary Canadian guitarist Jesse Cook is coming back to the Okanagan to perform music from his latest album, One World.

Cook returns to play in two of his favourite venues, where over the years he has amassed a legion of loyal and dedicated fans. He’ll be at the Kelowna Community Theatre Nov. 14 and the Vernon Performing Arts Centre Nov. 15.

Guest artists will be included in this tribute to Cook’s diverse musical influences, which include sounds from the Middle East, South America, Spain, and beyond.

One World is my ultimate mashup,” said Cook. “A playground where different musical traditions from around the globe are free to roam, I like to think of it as a 21st century Byzantium, where east meets west, tradition meets experimentation, ancient meets electronic.”

A guitarist, composer, and producer, Cook is widely considered one of the most influential figures in “nuevo flamenco” music. He incorporates elements of flamenco rumba, jazz and many forms of world music into his work. He is a Juno award winner, Acoustic Guitar Magazine’s Player’s Choice Award silver winner in the flamenco category, and a three-time winner of the Canadian Smooth Jazz award for Guitarist of the Year.

Cook has recorded eight studio albums, three live DVDs and has traveled the world exploring musical traditions that he has blended into his style of rumba flamenco. In addition to headlining concerts and festivals, he has opened for such legends as B.B. King, Ray Charles and Diana Krall. He has performed with Welsh soprano Charlotte Church on The Tonight Show and toured with legendary Irish band The Chieftains and had two PBS TV specials featuring him and his band.
