Halloween fun starts early in Parksville Qualicum Beach

Plenty of ways to get into the spooky spirit, starting Oct. 23

Halloween is just around the corner, but the fun is starting early this year! So, dust off your costumes and check out these family-friendly events happening over the next week.

Pumpkin patch at Tiger Lilly Farm

Until Oct. 31

10 a.m. – 4 p.m., daily

Walk or take a hayride out

to the patch.

 

• Pumpkins for Patients at  Thrifty Foods Parksville

Until Oct. 31

7 a.m. – 10 p.m.

$1 from every B.C. pumpkin and select pumpkin items will go to Nanaimo and District Hospital  Foundation

 

• Corn Maze at Silver Meadows

Until Oct. 31

9 a.m. – 6 p.m., daily

$2, free for children 2 years and under.

All children must be accompanied by an adult

 

Oct. 24 & 25

Scare the Pants off You—Ultimate Horror Cave Tour

Horne Lake Caves

6 p.m.

$49 (ages 12 and up only)

Eerie location, scary stories, surprise actors, night-time forest hike and the blackest lights out you’ve ever experienced.

 

Oct. 25

Lighthouse Country Family Halloween Party

Lighthouse Community Hall

6 p.m.

Free

Games, prizes, fireworks and more. Children in costume receive a treat.

 

• Errington Halloween Dance

Errington Hall

8 -11 p.m., doors at 7:30

Admission: $20 for adults, tickets available at Cranky Dog Music, Heaven on Earth and Errington Store. Youth ages 5 – 12 are $5 at the door; children under 5 are free.

Come in costume and dance the night away to the sounds of stoke folk quintet Shred Kelly.

 

Oct. 28

Spooktacular at Storybook Village

Storybook Village (744 Primrose St., Qualicum Beach)

5:30 p.m.

Free

A learning event for families with children aged 0 – 10. Come in costume for snacks, activities, crafts and fun.

Pumpkins on the Drive

Resort Drive, Parksville

6 – 8 p.m.

Free

Over 400 carved pumpkins await. Vote for your favourite pumpkin patch at any resortoffice and receive a treat.

Oct. 29

• Halloween Skate

Oceanside Place Arena

3:30 – 5 p.m.

Reduced rate

Dress up and skate. There are prizes for best costumes!

 

• Halloween Howl Swim

Ravensong Aquatic Centre

6:30 to 8:00 p.m.

Free

Ghosts, goblins and a piñata will entertain the kids. Adults must join if their children are under seven.

 

• Ballenas Haunted House

Ballenas Senior Secondary

5 – 8 p.m.

Free

All ages welcome. Concession, pumpkin walk and haunted hall hosted by the grade 12s.

Library Halloween Storytime

VIRL Parksville

10:30 – 11 a.m.

Free

Join us for a fun Halloween storytime with songs, rhymes and stories. Costumes are encouraged.

 

• Pumpkin Trail

Errington Community Park

Free

Costumes, hot chocolate, bonfire, hot dogs and fireworks.

 

• Halloween for Pets

Bosley’s (280 E. Island Hwy, Parksville)

9 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Free treat bags for pets in costumes while supplies last

 

• Downtown Trick or Treat, brought to you by the qualiucm Beach Downtown Business Asociation.

3 – 5:30 p.m.

Free

Children 12 and younger, in costume, can trick or treat around downtown Qualicum. Participating businesses will have an “Official Monster Merchant” poster in their window and orange & black balloons outside their store.
