Hambleton Galleries in Kelowna presents a show and sale of new works for two of its favourite artists.

Beverley Binfet and Peter Wyse have very recognizable styles.

Binfet’s half of the show, called VIEWS, presents a glimpse of commonplace events in our daily lives which often go overlooked but which also bring great joy and richness to our lives. Beverley invites the viewer to slow down and take a moment to examine some of these simple things that we might take for granted. Beverley’s paintings offer images of people who have stopped to take a look at something and it is up to us to determine what they are looking at and what effect it may be having on them. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but Beverley has given each painting a title that may give you a hint as to what she has been thinking as she paints it.

Peter Wyse’s half of the show is called ORDINARY COURAGE and through his paintings he reveals the moments in our lives that we often overlook. His work can be compared to being shown macro photography for the first time and realizing that there is a wonderful world of the small that no one is aware of. Peter is trying to make us aware that there are small occurrences in our everyday life that require small acts of courage that we perform everyday and don’t take account of. To Peter the bee is a symbol of courage in our everyday lives and the bee is present in many of his paintings.

The opening reception is Saturday, June 8, from 1-4 p.m. Beverley and Peter will both be at the gallery to discuss their works and Peter is bringing a partially complete painting that he will finish on site as a demonstration.

This will be an interesting and fun afternoon so bring a friend and join us and the artists for the unveiling of their new works. Refreshments will be served.
