Happy crowds for Kars under the K in Keremeos

From muscle cars, antique tractors to a vehicle with a wooden hood, plenty to see and do

Despite smoke-filled skies and passing drizzles, plenty of cars and crowds made their way down to Keremeos for the Kars Under the K show.

Around 100 vehicles, from across B.C. and beyond, filled up the grass of the village’s Memorial Park and out into the streets around it.

It was a strong showing, down somewhat in the number of cars from the pre-pandemic show of 2019, but that show had seen around 120 on display. With the borders still closed to non-essential travel, and smoke and COVID-19 still factors, it was a promising sign of life and an eagerness of people looking for events to return to.

Plenty of people were willing to brave the thick grey skies to check out some of the interesting rides on display, from classic muscle cars, to antique tractors, to vehicles with wooden hoods or even an off-roader smart car.

The 50/50 tickets for the kids’ breakfast program sold out early, and the Habitat For Humanity and Lower Similkameen Community Services Society tents in the vendor alley saw plenty of traffic.

Despite the community pool being unable to open due to the air quality, plenty of kids were over at the nearby playground while their parents watched or toured the grounds looking for their personal favourite to vote for.
