The 12th annual Harvest of Music Festival is back for another year with four separate concerts this weekend.
The music kicks off on Friday, Oct. 14 at 7 p.m. with a jazz performance from the Jim Cameron Quartet. Cameron is a veteran of the Boston jazz scene and will be playing a selection of Cameron’s favourite tunes ranging from the great old standards to gems of modern jazz to original compositions. Cameron will be accompanied by Ron Hadley on piano, Sean Drabbit on bass and Kelby MacNayr on drums and special guest clarinetist Liam Hockley will be playing in the second set. Admission is $18.
On Saturday, Oct. 15 at 12 p.m. there will be a classical performance by the Marmont Quintet. Violinist Roger Mangas and pianist Monica Pfau will be returning to The Old Schoolhouse Arts Centre with fellow performers Alexsandra Dziobek on cello, Peter Weinkam on violin and Sasha Poon on viola. The performance will be a breathtaking quintet for piano and strings by Johannes Brahms and Dimitri Shostakovich. Admission is $10.
Later in the evening at 7 p.m. is an eastern European folk and classical concert from Jamshed which is made up of Tony Booker on keyboards and vocals, Rainer Roth on woodwinds, Kate Rhodes on violin and vocals and Alex Olson on double bass and mandolin. All four musicians are classically-trained and at various stages in their careers found out about the folk music of eastern Europe. Admission is $18.
The final concert of the festival is Sunday, Oct. 16 a multi-genre show Cornucopia: A Musical Celebration of Autumn. The not-to-be-missed final show is a mix of styles and performers from the weekend’s lineup. Performers include Jim Cameron, Liam Hockley, Ron Hadley, Tony Booker and Kelby MacNayr with special guests vocalist Cari Burdett, violinist/violist/fiddler Sarah Tradewell and pianist Cheryl Tradewell. Admission is $18.
