Maple Blues nominee Mark Crissinger will be the featured act Nov. 19 at Open Stage night at St. Michael’s Hall in Chemainus.
This artist will headline the evening, which will follow the format of an open stage session, where performers of all types are invited to take to the stage to perform up to three songs to a maximum of 15 minutes.
Then it will be time for Crissinger, who performs more than 100 shows a year on Vancouver Island and across Canada.
A veteran performer who’s been at it since 1987, he packs his one-man show with acoustic guitar playing, harmonica solos and soulful vocals.
You’ll hear original blues and roots-rock music plus some classic favourites. A few road stories and many years of showmanship make for a fun, upbeat and dynamic night of music, says event publicist Bob Johns.
The evening will get underway at 6:30 p.m. and the open stage will conclude at 8 p.m. Then, at 8:15, Crissinger will take the stage.
Anyone wishing to perform at the open stage should email openstage@cvcas.com, or call 250-246-1389. If you don’t book ahead, the organizers may not be able to fit you into the evening program, Johns warns.
Admission is just $5, with open-stage performers admitted free of charge. Coffee, tea and snacks will be available.
