History made by Kootenay Legends

Mel Hynes and Kootenay Legends are hosting a CD release party to celebrate the re-mastered version of his CD.

Mel Hynes and Kootenay Legends are hosting a CD release party to celebrate the re-mastered version of the History in the Making: Part 1 CD.

An Invermere native, Mel Hynes has made a name for himself in the Columbia Valley music scene, singing songs that highlight the history and culture of the area.

His personal history in the Valley and his love for the area are evident in all of his music.

Even though he has moved around the province a bit in his lifetime, he returned to the Valley in 1998, and he and his wife Sharon were married at the Parson Community Hall in 1999.

It is evident even in his song titles (Bugaboo Blues, Roger’s Pass, Sunrise in the Rockies, and Fort Steele) that this is his home.

The CD release party will be held at the Elk Park Ranch, near Radium, on October 6 at 5:30 p.m., just after the Farmer’s Market from 1 to 4 p.m.

Everyone is welcome for the party, as well as dinner (beef on a bun and homemade bean salad). Tickets are available at Off the Wall in Golden, and don’t forget to put your name on your tickets to win a prize at the party.
