The Abbotsford Arts Council has announced that Abbotsford artist Bev Beresh is the winner of its first Christmas Card Design Contest.

Beresh’s creation is an oil painting on canvas titled “Santa’s Gift,” pictured at right.

She received a $200 gift card from Opus Art Supplies as her prize.

The arts council announced a call in August for artwork from Fraser Valley artists to be displayed on the front of the organization’s 2013 Christmas cards, to be sent to 500 artists, arts enthusiasts, arts council affiliates and partners.

The contest’s purpose was to promote the work and accomplishments of a local artist while sending holiday greetings from the staff and directors of the Abbotsford Arts Council.

The winning card was presented at the opening reception of the Christmas Artisan Gift Fair at the Kariton Art Gallery on Nov. 3.
