House of James hosts Poets in the House

Event takes place Friday, Jan. 9 in Abbotsford

House of James in Abbotsford hosts a poetry reading on Friday, Jan. 9 from 7 to 9 p.m.

Friday  Versification: Poets in the House features readings from Mackenzie Lee alongside poets from Vancouver and the Fraser Valley: Adam Roper, Olivia Sharpe, Adriel Brandt and Sarah Foot.

Lee, who organized the event, said bringing poets together is important.

“Poets in the House provides a unique platform for sharing in community and connecting with others through art. Hearing a poem is like being given a rare glimpse into the common vulnerability of the soul,” she said.

Lando Klassen, House of James owner, said he is looking forward to the event.

“I love to give room for the arts and since we mostly do music here, it’s high time we do poetry,” he said.

House of James is located at 2743 Emerson St. Cost for the evening is $5 at the door.
