Internationally-renowned pianist comes to Trinity Presbyterian

A Mason & Hamlin Concert Artist, Elias-Axel Pettersson has garnered prizes on the national and international level

Hailed for his “breathtaking virtuosity and an intelligent sense of precisely what brings music to life” by the Albuquerque Journal, and his “rhythmic integrity, singing tone quality, and refinement” by the Clavier Companion, Swedish-American pianist Elias-Axel Pettersson has established himself as a formidable soloist and chamber musician.

A Mason & Hamlin Concert Artist, Pettersson has garnered prizes on the national and international level and has been heard on national radio.

And on Saturday,  Jan. 14 Pettersson will perform at Trinity Presbyterian Church on Simms Road at 2:30 p.m. in a concert sponsored by the Campbell River Friends of Music. His program will include music from Mendelssohn, Franck, Blumenfeld, Schubert and Ravel.

Pettersson received a Doctorate of Music degree from the L’Université de Montréal, where he is currently a teaching assistant. He presents masterclasses throughout North America and was a member of the jury for the 2013 Canadian Music Competition. His primary teachers include Paul Stewart, Douglas Humpherys, Larissa Dedova, Maribeth Gunning, and Sergei Babayan. Pettersson is founder and artistic director of Southwest Piano Festival in Albuquerque, NM.
