Brian O’Brien, singer-songwriter hailing from the city of Limerick, Ireland, will be performing at Tractorgrease Cafe on Saturday.

O’Brien has been described as using an interesting recipe for song, whereby amalgamating the darker tones of North American folk to that of the prose, Lamentation and storytelling inherent to Irish culture. This is undoubtedly a product of his influences, which include Brendan Behan, Liam Clancy, The Dublinners, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen and Tom Waits.

Following the recording of his 2013 project, My Father’s Throne, O’Brien relocated to Vancouver to focus on maturing his writing.

Not long after his arrival, he competed in the 2015 Landkmark Events Artist Showcase, where he went on to finish in first place.

Later, he was introduced to now producer and collaborator, Jeff Zipp of The White Hart studios in East Vancouver. Zipp and O’Brien are currently working on the completion of his first Canadian EP due for release in early 2017. The work featured on this EP will include his full body of work since his arrival to Vancouver.

Brian O’Brien will be playing Tractorgrease Cafe on Saturday, Jan. 14 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $12 and available during restaurant hours at 604-858-3814 or email: tractorgrease@gmail.com.
