It’s a party in the park for kids

Children will be able to head outdoors for some fun in the sun as part of the Party in the Park program this month.

The program, which is part of the Youth Partners Association and co-ordinated by Synthia McGowin, youth recreational outreach worker, features fun activities for kids ages eight to 12, at different park locations throughout the week.

The program is run on a drop-in basis, and will feature activities such as chalk drawing, water-fights and sports.

“It’s to get the kids out so they’re still being active during the summer months,” said McGowin, who also says the program has received great response so far.

The schedule for August is as follows:

Mondays at 10 a.m. at Raven Park and again at 1 p.m. at the park on 37th Street, SW.

Tuesdays are at Badger Park at 10 a.m. and the park on 37th Street SW at 1 p.m. Wednesdays activities will be held at North Canoe school at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at Raven Park. On Thursdays, the program will be at Clover Court at 10 a.m. and Sunnybrae at 2 p.m. Fridays will be at South Broadview at 10 a.m.

All programs run for two hours, except Monday which runs for one-and-a-half.

Kids can come and go as they please.
