Looking for a little song and dance in your life? Maybe your aren’t a Scrooge at heart, but want to play one on the stage?
Auditions for A Christmas Carol open to the public with an opportunity to work with the Four Seasons Musical as the Langford-based company celebrates its 40th year.
“There are a number of reasons why our upcoming season is special, one is because … it’s a community within a community,” said the production’s director, Terry Rowsell. “Whether they audition for the stage or volunteer for the many things behind the scenes that have to happen, our goal for the production team is making it close-knit.”
The musical take on the Dickens classic, which features a score penned by Academy Award-winning writer Alan Menken, begins rehearsals in August, with expected performance dates in November.
Community members can audition as set builders, crew and costume designers, as well as for the many acting roles in the production. Along with Rowsell in the director’s chair, Jennifer Brown is producer and Lara Oberg is the music director.
“Every show we strive to make, it’s not just about the final product at Four Seasons, it’s also about the journey, too. We want people who want to enjoy being part of the process and the Four Seasons family,” Rowsell said.
“This is not necessarily a common focus in the theatre world and with the 40th anniversary coming up, we really want to make it (happen).”
