Jake’s War,

Jake’s War,

Jake’s Gift is a tribute to veterans

What unfolds in the play captures the legacy and “personalizes the moving story” behind one solider’s grave.

An aging veteran returns to Normandy, France, for the 60th anniversary of  the D-Day landing, and encounters an inquisitive 10-year old from the local village.

That’s the premise of Jake’s Gift, ‘a powerful tribute to our veterans,’ which will be playing at the Cowichan Performing Arts Centre Oct. 17.

What unfolds in the play captures the legacy and “personalizes the moving story” behind one solider’s grave.

There will also be an interactive, local component to the performance. People are being asked to contribute to a ‘temporary wall of remembrance.”

“If you have any photos of family members, or friends, who have served in the military, please send them to us and we may add them to our display,”

You can email photos, along with a short caption (50 words or less) to sjohnston@cvrd.bc.ca, or drop off photos at the Cowichan Performing Arts ticket centre at 2687 James St., Duncan.

After the performance of Jake’s War, there will be a reception, and people will be able to view contributions to the Wall of Remembrance.

Tickets to Jake’s war are $32 for adults, $28 for seniors. More information at www.cowichanpac.ca or 250-748-0054.
