There’s plenty of excitement at the Crofton Hotel pub Sunday, March 6 as Swingsation and vocalist Lauren Marshall make their way to the Sunday Jazz Series.

Marshall sings in lots of musical styles, but she really lets loose in jazz, her vocal coach, Sara Weiker-Patridge says in a release about the show.

Marshall will show off her jazz chops with the guitarist Django Reinhardt-inspired Swingsation quartet.

“Although Lauren has shown considerable talent in classical and musical theatre styles, it is jazz and gospel genres where she really shines,” Weiker-Partridge, a vocal instructor at the Canadian College of Performing Arts in Oak Bay, says of her protege.

Sports fans may recognize her as an ‘O Canada’ vocalist at Victoria Salmon Kings hockey games and Victoria Royals games, according to concert organizer Ron Joiner.

Backing Marshall on the Crofton Stage will be Swingsation’s leader, guitarist Jay Jennings, along with violinist Robert Dukarm and bassist Aron Bird.

Sunday’s performance runs from 2-5 p.m. Musicians are invited to join in a jam session during the last hour.

The pub is at 1534 Joan Ave. Admission is $15.
