Jill Hagen to perform at Valley Christian Assembly

The Valley Christian Assembly in Windermere will be hosting a live performance by contemporary Christian artist Jill Hagen on February 10 at 7 p.m.

Jill Hagen is a singer/songwriter from Camrose, Alberta who has been nominated for five Canadian Gospel Music awards for both her debut album “Perspective” ( Pop/Contemporary Album, Inspirational Song and New Artist of the Year)  in 2008 and her second project “Ruined for the Ordinary” (Rock Album and Pop Song of the Year) in 2010.

Ruined for the Ordinary, Hagen’s second album, was produced by award winning producer, Roy Salmond, at Whitewater Productions.

On her website Hagen says, “Stepping out in God’s calling has been both rewarding and challenging but I have grown so much in the process that I wouldn’t want to go back to the life I knew before.  Someone once said then that this is a life ruined for the ordinary.  I liked the saying and so I named my album after it.   I hope to encourage others to choose this kind of life.”

At a young age, she started playing piano and singing in children’s choirs.  Her passion for music carried into her adult life when she started writing songs at 19 years old.

She was a basement writer and would on occasion share some of songs with family and friends.  She finished her university degree (B. Ed with an Elementary and Music Major) and started teaching both kindergarten and elementary music in a school in Drayton Valley, Alberta.

With the encouragement of family and friends, Jill recorded her first album in 2007 at Whitewater Productions.

The show at the Valley Christian Assembly is free and all are welcomed to the event.
