A Juno Award winner will be coming to town soon. Gary Fjellgaard will be playing at the St. Andrew’s United Church & Centre for Peace on September 21, 2011.
Fjellgaard has been touring various parts of the world for 40 years to share his voice. The singer, who was raised on the prairies, has played in some of Canada’s biggest music festivals and has played with some of Canada’s greatest talents. His concerts often include stories that leave the crowd roaring and songs that leave them silent.
Standing ovations are not a rarity in Fjellgaard’s concerts. His large fan base shares the same passion for his lyrics as he does and his awards prove that his work has not gone unnoticed.
Winning the TMI/Fender Humanitarian Award in 1990, A Juno in 1993, and duo of the year in 1989 and 1990 are only a few of Fjellgaard’s recognitions. His name can also be found in the BC Country Music Hall of Fame.
But it is not only Gary Fjellgaard that Golden has to look forward to, Fjellgaard will be sharing the stage at the church with Darrel Delaronde and Saskia. These two also have a prairie roots background and a sense of humour.
With a biography that tells a hilarious imaginative story, the duo need not even tell you facts. Their personalities shine through in their stories and lyrics and audiences are never disappointed.
The duo travel often with Fjellgaard and the trio come together like a work of art.
Tickets for the concert are on sale for $15 and can be purchased at Falkins Insurance or the St. Andrews United Church & Centre for Peace office. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. For more information, call 250-344-6117.
