Concerts in Courtenay and Denman Island

Kai Gleusteen, renowned Canadian violinist who leads an orchestra in Barcelona and performs world-wide, is back again this summer in the West Coast, bringing his enthusiasm and passion for sharing gorgeous classical music with his audiences.

He will be joined at the Kaimerata Chamber Music Festival 2016 by the wonderful soprano, Aline Kutan, the ever-so-popular cellist Ariel Barnes, the principal cello of the Victoria Symphony, Brian Yoon, the exquisite pianist and long-time chamber music partner, Catherine Ordronneau, and more excellent musicians.

This year’s featured composer is Franz Schubert.  The audience will have the opportunity to hear about his life and listen to some of his masterpieces, including the cello quintet in C, the Trout Quintet, and the ‘Death and the Maiden’ quartet.

Three of the four concerts will also include some of Schubert’s most famous and beautiful songs: Gretchen at the Spinning Wheel, Good Night, Night and Dreams, etc.

There will be four concerts:  Aug. 11 at 7:30 p.m. in the Stan Hagen Theatre at North Island College, Aug. 12 at 7:30 p.m. on Denman Island, Aug. 13 at 4 p.m. on Denman Island, and Aug. 14 at 2:30 p.m. on Denman Island.
