Kamloops Art Exposed call for artists

TNRD artist encouraged to submit 2D and 3D artwork

Residents of the Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD) who create artwork in any medium are invited to enter the Kamloops Arts Council’s Art Exposed Open Exhibition.

The registration deadline is Jan. 31; deadline for youth (ages 10-16) is Feb. 6.

Now in its fifth year, the Kamloops Arts Council’s Art Exposed is a community-centred visual arts exhibit. Unique to Kamloops, Art Exposed is open: all works (up to two per artist) will be accepted in this non-curated exhibition, which runs Feb. 27 to March 8 at the Old Courthouse Cultural Centre in Kamloops.

TNRD residents are invited to submit artwork in any medium. There are two distinct entry categories: 2D (paintings, photography, drawings, etc.) and 3D (sculptures, clay art, glass art, fibre art, etc.).

There will be $650 in prizes will be awarded by the jurors on opening night, as follows: Best in Show ($200); 2D – first ($100), second ($75) and third ($50); 3D – first ($100), second ($75) and third ($50); People’s Choice ($50) and Artist’s Choice ($50).

Art Exposed provides artists – especially emerging artists – with a supportive opportunity for constructive criticism and visibility. This year’s jurors are Kelowna artist/curator Katie Brennan, Kamloops artist Emily Hope, and Kamloops carver, painter and graphic artist Vaughn Warren.
