A benefit concert will be held for Mike Puhallo and his family Friday, May 13 at the Calvary Community Church in Kamloops.
The concert starts at 7 p.m. and features Gary Fjellgaard, Dave Longworth, Hugh McLennan, Butch Falk, Matt Johnston, Shirley Field, and Tim Hus and his band including Riley Tubbs and fiddle player extraordinaire Billy McInnis.
The Puhallo family is going through a difficult time as Mike battles cancer.
Although the concert is in Kamloops, Puhallo has a huge following throughout the Cariboo and the Chilcotin as an entertainer and a rodeo judge, report Mark and Kathy McMillan of Meadow Springs Ranch.
Puhallo was also a rancher for years in Big Creek where his brother still lives.
He also helped to found the BC Cowboy Hall of Fame, Kamloops Cowboy Festival and the B.C. Cowboy Heritage Society which is hosting the concert.
Partial proceeds from the concert will go to the Cancer Centre for the Southern interior.
Those who are not able to attend the concert but may wish to help the Puhallo family may donate through the B.C. Cowboy Heritage Society web site at www.bcchs.com and by regular mail at B.C. Cowboy Heritage Society, Box 137, Kamloops, BC, Canada, V2C 5K3
Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door and available by calling 1-888-763-2224 or at the Horse Barn in Kamloops.
For more information contact Mark and Kathy McMillan at Meadow Springs Ranch www.meadowsprings.com at phone (250) 456-2425 or Fax (250) 456-2429.
The McMillans say Puhallo has asked that people not send cards or contact him directly.
Words of encouragement can be sent to them or through the society.
