Keloha sets up for weekend

The Keloha Music and Arts Festival returns for its third year to Kelowna’s Waterfront Park this weekend.

Forget those obnoxious jet skis, it’s about to get even louder on Okanagan Lake this weekend, and for music lovers, that’s a good thing.

The Keloha Music and Arts Festival returns for its third year to Kelowna’s Waterfront Park this weekend.

Producers Wet Ape Productions are transforming the area into a tropical island oasis –complete with palm trees, tiki torches and the Lakeside Lounge beverage gardens– for three days of performances by some of the biggest names in indie, rock and alternative music.

Headlining acts include The Naked and Famous, Local Natives, and Canada’s newest rock success story Monster Truck.

Also included in this year’s lineup is Sky Ferreira, Kongos, St. Lucia, The Mowglis, Terraplane Sun, Hey Ocean!, Blondfire, The Funk Hunters, Cayucas, ASTR, The Harpoonist and the Axe Murderer, Jon and Roy and many more.

Theree Vernon acts are also scheduled to perform after being named in the top 5 of the 2014 K96-3 Radio Emerging Artist Program

Singer-songwriter Raquel Cole, hip hop artist Immaculate and indie rock band Paperboy are showcasing their talent at Keloha on Sunday as part of the live performance adjudication component of the program.

Keloha is more than just great music. An interactive artistic component titled Art Ave. is the festival’s creative hub which allows attendees of all ages to let  their imaginations go wild with activities such as sandcastle building, drop-in yoga, chalk drawing, photo booth, crafts and more. The weekend also hosts a stellar multi-venue after party series. Forty artists will perform at seven downtown Kelowna venues, including Doc Willoughby’s, Habitat, Flashbacks, The Grateful Fed, The Train Station Pub, Tonics and Sapphire.
